I loved my time at Harper! I was here for only a year to get my associates degree, then transferred to mizzou and graduated spring of 2025. All of my classes transferred so I don’t have to retake anything which saved me so much time and money. I was also on the soccer team in the fall of ‘21 and that was such an amazing experience. Coach Chip is the best and the athletic trainers were so helpful and great as well!

I have been going here for a couple of semesters now and I always have a payment plan set up in order to pay for classes. However, after every semester, I somehow owe money. Weather it’s because I didn’t take enough classes, or I didn’t sign a document, or simply because I registered to a class that I ended up dropping before the start date, there is always something to be paid to these people. They use a system that is very user UNfriendly and makes it hard to keep track of. When I was finally able to look at the itemized receipts, there are many fees beyond what classes cost. " Universal fee" and "materials fee" are some to name a few and made no sense to me considering I pay for my own materials at the book store and not sure what a Universal Fee is when there is a separate fee that goes to the school for you simply being in the classroom. I understand that school gets expensive, but I’m a transfer from ECC and not only is their system much easier to understand, but they are more than willing to get you to the right person to talk to. Here at Harper however, these people will get you to talk to anyone under the sun except the finance department. Their finance department is untouchable to the sense that even their office is kept hidden in the back, and the billing department is full of employees just ready to pass you along to someone else and are determined not to help you.

I’m in my second year of college but here’s what I have to say. This school has many great programs that they offer. The best thing they have is the university center. They offer different majors for students who want a bachelor’s degree after they graduated with associates degrees. It’s a great way to learn and get educated in your area without having to move to the city or out of state. The student culture is great where there’s many different students with different backgrounds working together and learning. Different clubs are great for students who want to fit in their community. They’ve even have Starbucks and subway with some community colleges like oakton or Elgin don’t offer. The teachers and staff are very supportive and helpful to the students who are struggling with their school life. Tutoring is also free and offers more help than math or English. Well that’s all I can say

I want to share my experience and warn other parents about this place. Even though it's public, never leave your children alone in the men's changing room. Unfortunately, women aren't allowed in, but if you go with your children, keep them with you. There are adult men exposing themselves naked in the changing room in front of children, and they don't do any harm, just saying that because it's public, it's allowed. That's unpleasant and dangerous; a place like that isn't safe.

Due to certain circumstances, I had to transfer from my old college to here. I sent my transcripts in early May and waited for them to tell me what transferred. After I met with my advisor 8 WEEKS later, they told me that not only is the process supposed to take 4-6 weeks but they hadn't even looked at it yet. I then sent them some syllabi and updated transcripts after I had to fight for certain classes not being covered. It's been about a week and a half since I gave them everything. Especially if they want to take their 4-6 weeks to look over everything again. If they don't evaluate my credits soon then I won't have a choice but to not enroll in the fall semester. If you plan on transferring, don't. Any other college it more likely to get your transfer credits done faster then they are.
