Mid. If weather is dicey, you may sit on the tarmac for up to an hour until a gate is "ready". The inside is nice with easily accessible food and coffee/tea. Security is quick and polite. Unfortunately for this airport, flights are delayed due to being fed planes from other weather-affected airports. As pic shows, one monitor tracks departures.
My last 3 flights here at CID have been really bad experiences. There seems to be a lack of staff and support for the flights. Bags are not getting loaded onto the planes, people not available to refuel a plane (it’s been sitting here for over 12 hours) and still waiting for de-icing. There are people who have been stuck for 3 days waiting to fly out. If I had any other option I would take it, but since there isn’t I’m stuck just having to wait and hope that someone shows up to do their jobs. Update: 4 hours sitting stuck on the plane because of the incredibly slow ground crew support. Unifi is absolutely terrible at this airport. I don’t even feel like a 1 star is deserved.
The Cedar Rapids Airport is one of the most convenient and stress-free airports to travel through. From check-in to security, everything moves quickly and smoothly, making the entire experience easy and efficient. The airport is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate, which is a huge plus compared to larger, more crowded airports. The staff are friendly, helpful, and professional, and you really feel welcomed from the moment you arrive. Parking is convenient, and getting in and out of the airport is simple. It’s the perfect size — big enough to have everything you need, but small enough that you’re not dealing with long lines or confusion. Overall, the Cedar Rapids Airport makes traveling pleasant and hassle-free. It’s a great airport that truly takes the stress out of flying.
CID has is cooked. It’s broken. I dont know what has happened. I dont know if it’s the 3rd parties that operate here now or something more. Ive been flying in and out of iowa my entire life. It’s the most poorly ran runway in the country. Please avoid this airport if you can. Fly out of DSM if you are able to. There is also moline which is not great and burlington which is like a safari puddle jumper. But they are both ran more efficiently than this place. Avoid at all costs. From a wolrd traveler who loves iowa.
This has got to be the worst airport ever. More than 50% of the flights I take from here are delayed, no joke. And Not for weather. Today it was delayed more than an hour because they double booked a seat. I mean come on. And they don’t care if you won’t make your connecting flight. They think that rescheduling is simple. Not if you have plans you’re trying to commit to. This airport is terrible and I think I will start driving to desmoines.
Convenient small airport. One down side is returning cars early in the morning. You will park your car in a lot and walk the keys in and deposit in a box. The mild coffee is very weak and watered down. Take note.
This is our new favorite airport! It's small enough to be able to find everything easily and get in and out quickly, but large enough to have convenient flights to our preferred destinations (or to connecting airports that work well for us, like Denver and Chicago.) Additionally, the rental car lot is right there and getting in and out is easy because there are no gates or codes required. And they have excellent conference room space for rent at a very reasonable $25 per hour (although we went over a little bit and because they weren't busy, they didn't charge us any extra.) This was a godsend because we needed to be on a Zoom call within 30 minutes of landing and don't want to risk driving into CR to a business center. We called as we got onto our flight at O'Hare and they told us rooms were available and to contact them upon our arrival, which we did. They made this super easy and took all the stress out of the situation. We visit this area regularly and look forward to using Cedar Rapids as our primary airport.
