Tonight, I attended the Departures & Thesis Opening Reception at the Southeast Museum of Photography at Daytona State College. The Departures & Thesis are annual exhibitions that highlight the artistry of recent graduates from Daytona State College, as well as graduating seniors in the B.S. Degree program at the University of Central Florida. What a WONDERFUL and LOVEY experience!!!!! The staff and artists were all so very kind and welcoming! The art.. much of the art left me speechless!!!! EXTREMELY impressive!!!! I can't wait to come back!!! I attended DSC, where I completed my associates degree in 2009. Before then, I'd often volunteer to help install photo exhibits at the former Southeast Museum of Photography building. Tonight was my first time in the newer building. Beautiful and very thoughtful architecture, even the floor tiles represent film. Brilliant! Bravo!!!! I am so very grateful to have attended tonight, and as I said, I can't wait to come back to see more!!!
I’m not usually one to speak negatively but my beginning years was great and then once I have moved on to a greater career and have classes it went downhill it’s like easily being failed taking your time out your day and your juggling life to and a full time job and some well most of these teachers aren’t understanding that people go to college to try to do something with there lives and career but instead of filling grades with Fs for little mistakes that could be done at least reach out and help and on top of that having teachers not wanting to help you or fix issues your willing to fix it’s a automatic oh can’t help can’t fix and i think it’s just not the same I’m trying to become a teacher and I’m very passionate about it but you know it does not feel good to keep failing constantly on stuff with classes.Mostly I think some don’t like there jobs no one goes to college just to have fun and waist there time and money like it won’t be time waisted if people are helped through college especially online, help there certain career and do something with there lives but I’m extremely upset about how specifically my years of learning is going downhill I just wished that teachers took time to help fix grades that could be easily fix and mentor and help most the times people have jobs, life, anything so all I’m saying is if someone is so passionate about something and reaching out don’t just oh I can’t do nothing it’s just different and it makes me think a lot about even doing college or joining because I did once support but the amount of stress makes you wish you never took the classes to begin with and just do something else. The sad part is you get stuck then they tell you to pay your financial aid if you have it or they bring the gpa down so low where financial aid can’t assist you then you do classes and then have to pass exams and if you don’t your grade for the class didn’t matter I’m not saying it’s a waist of time it’s just I wish it went differently and still some care in certain peoples hearts.Just hope for change and better futures all I’m saying and who knows it might change it’s just different in my opinion yes there might be typos or anything in this but like I said juggling with life and college. But if I do get helped and fix I will reach back to these reviews If it catches someone’s attention because my emails are not working.
While attending a Rotary Learning Conference at the school I was impressed by how well the facilities are kept and how pleasant the staff are on a Saturday. For an older college the building is well maintained. The classrooms are very comfortable and quiet. It made learning easier and I got so much more out of the day. Sonny’s BBQ catered breakfast and lunch and it was absolutely delicious. Super yummy sausage gravy and bacon. The brisket at lunch was so tender. And they are the nicest people I really appreciate them as well. Thank you to our host and our cater for an amazing day. Kind regards.
I went today to find out what was going on with my tuition considering i originally had a pell grant that was supposed to be dispersed after the fall 2024 semester. It never dispersed and had a hold on my account and I called multiple times and visited multiple times to see what was going on and each time someone in any department would tell me it was a glitch in their system and they were actively trying to get it fixed. Needless to say I went this summer to the DeLand campus and their team actually told me I was not able to receive the grant because I missed 2 points, which is entirely my fault. However, this was 2 months ago and it is almost the end of the fall 2025 semester so it has been almost a year until this was actually told to me. I could have had my tuition paid off FOREVER ago. I go to the financial aid office and they tell me to go to the student accounts to set up a payment plan. Debra Leonard was the RUDEST person i have ever had to talk to in my entire 19 years of living and i work at mcdonald’s and that is saying something. Now i have to pay this tuition within 60 days without a payment plan. Mind you i never said a rude word to her in anyway shape or form and i was very polite. If you cannot handle and treat students with respect ESPECIALLY if they are giving you respect you should NOT be working with a college.
I highly recommend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy through DSC. All of the instructors are very knowledgeable in their fields and always available to work with you. Their expectations are high, but attainable. They truly care about your success and push you to keep going. I really appreciated the instructors giving us the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of law enforcement as it gave my class an introduction into what we will see in our careers with zero glorification or sugar coating. Also, the program director and manager are very understanding when life gets in the way. I’m so grateful to have been part of this program. Lastly, as a self-sponsored recruit, I found this program to be the most affordable compared to other programs in neighboring counties.
Wonderful campus. Amazing additions. Pleasant, helpful staff. Very heavily used campus...almost couldn't find a parking spot. Make sure to check out the Southeast Museum of Photography!
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Elena for a student advising session, and I can honestly say it was an exceptional experience. Elena went above and beyond to offer thoughtful guidance and unwavering support throughout our meeting. Her dedication and genuine care made the session not only incredibly helpful but also deeply insightful. She took the time to ensure I had all the information I needed, answering my questions thoroughly and providing valuable advice tailored to my goals. I truly appreciate her commitment and the effort she invested in helping me navigate my academic journey. I highly recommend meeting with Elena to anyone seeking knowledgeable and compassionate advising—she truly makes a difference! Rosemarie Espinal
