Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital

This is the only hospital I will take my children. Staff actually listen to you and are very knowledgeable about medicine. This hospital saved my son's life after 2 doctors at 2 other hospitals sent us home stating "he's fine." I will forever be grateful to the medical personnel here.

My son was admitted to the NICU twice and the care and kindness that runs through that department is honestly amazing. I felt comfortable and sure of the situation every day we were there due their compassion and understanding. God will bless you nurses and doctors 🤍

I can't say enough good things about the children's ER at Helen DeVos. Everyone from security to medical staff was calm, welcoming, and kind - everything you need as a scared parent in an ER. My concerns were addressed and validated and my son received the care he needed - all within 30 minutes. As a new parent, you juggle between determining if the issue is bad enough to need medical intervention with the stigma of being incorrect; the staff here don't judge you for that - they support your concern, fear, and action as a parent and take the time to explain danger signs for the future. The valet parking for the ER is a cherry on top; thank you for eliminating one more stressor for parents seeking help. Unrelated to the ER, we also previously received free assistance from a "car seat safety expert" at the hospital while I was pregnant, who took the time to help install our car seats in both cars and teach us about how they worked/what to look out for when using them (including bringing a doll to show proper use). I do better with physical examples than reading, so the tangible training was so comforting while preparing for our first. I am thankful to have access to a place like this when help is needed.

My son suffered horrible seizures,this hospital experience was great .Until they didn't want us there anymore. Our family was kicked out of our room at 10:30pm and put in a room where we had no refrigerator,no bathroom and no beds.They just expected us to sleep on floor. So our experience was horrible.They traumatized my kids with that situation. No 3 year old should sleep on floor in hospital.

Tips for being a Friend or Family staying overnight night with a sick child. At first Security denied my request for an overnight pass. I could have used it last time I was staying overnight as there was an issue and I was locked out of the wing waiting for someone to let me in. If you are not a parent and staying overnight with your precious child please contact the floor attendant or head nurse, they greatly understand the problem and will help you out. I immensely appreciate the help that I received from the whole staff at Helen Devos Children hospital. I fully understand why Security is needed but there are certain circumstances that warrant modification to the rules that are in place.

My grandchild was a recent critical patient here. My grandchild and parents were treated kind and compassionate tailored to this child. Everything revolved around the kids in a loving way. And in this case saved a life. Thank you. Words can’t express my gratitude to this hospital and staff.

I can't say enough positive praise for this hospital and NICU unit. Our grandson spent 10 days in NICU and they made a life changing future for him. Only one of two hospitals in Michigan that has cooling beds and state of the art equipment. Team was great! They made a difference in our grandsons life. Almost 2 and doing great.
