⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (Oakland) is a whole experience Carnegie Library in Oakland is one of my favorite places in the city. The building is beautiful, the vibe is calm and inspiring, and the staff is always helpful and welcoming. Lately I’ve been doing research "just because," not for work or school, and this is the perfect place for that kind of intentional learning and deep focus. I love that it’s connected to the museum too, because it makes it so easy to spend hours absorbing culture in one trip. I can read, take notes, grab something from the cafe, attend a lecture, and then immerse myself in the exhibits all in the same day. If you want a space that feels thoughtful, peaceful, and rich with history and inspiration, this is it.

I've never seen a public library as magnificent as this one. The librarians make lovely displays that make it feel like you're shopping at a book store -- but it's free! And I absolutely LOVE the personalized book recommendations they'll do for you.

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Main in Oakland is truly a gem! The architecture is stunning, blending history and elegance with modern functionality. The staff are consistently helpful, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The collections are extensive—from academic resources to popular titles—and the quiet study areas are perfect for reading or working. I also love the events and workshops they host; there’s always something enriching happening. Whether you're a student, a researcher, or just a book lover, this library is a must-visit. Pittsburgh is lucky to have it!

This is my favorite place to hang out in the entire city of Pittsburgh!! The building is gorgeous and I could spend hours just looking around. They have every kinda of book, DVD, etc. That you could want literally. The foreign film section is FANTASTIC! and they have so many movies that are hard to find elsewhere. The staff are so kind and there to help you with absolutely anything you need. You can chill and relax in the amazing bamboo deck or one of the very nice reading wings or in any of the numerous other comfortable seating areas. This is without a doubt one of the best library experiences in the whole country.

I really love this library. First off, it gets bonus points for being open on Sundays! The architecture is beautiful and the collection is vast. The library has a large children's area. There is a neat spot where patrons can access the stacks in a section of the library with old glass floors. This tucked away section of the library also has windows with a glimpse into the natural history museum.

If you love architecture, books, and history then this place will make you grin. Just being inside the building brings me joy thinking about all of the knowledge, ideas, images and formulas to be learned and then applied. It is a grand place of contemplation and free for all.

This was a beautifully piece of architecture & an amazing library to visit & find some amazing books. I loved that they still had the Dewey Decimal system. I loved that! Gets people searching & physically looking for & finding what they are looking for.
