BERNADETTE KRZYWICKI

I would give her no stars if I could. I have been going to Dr. Dougherty for 4 years since I moved to CA. While in PA I saw my Dermatologist every 6 months for skin cancer checks since I already had 4 different types in different places. Dr. Dougherty insisted that I didn't need to come every 6 months since I didn't have any recent skin cancers and she said I only needed yearly visits. On my 2022 visit I showed her a raised bump on same nostril where I had Basal CA removed in PA. I was concerned that it may be cancer. She stated it was "NOTHING"! In 2023 on my next yearly exam, I showed her the same bump again with my concern that it may be cancer. She again said it was "NOTHING!" A month after MY 2023 exam, the bump started to turn pink, I immediately called the office for an emergency visit, which took another month! Now this time, she looks at the same spot that I have been complaining about for over a year and said "Oh, this looks like Basal Cell Cancer and we need to biopsy this now!" After about close to two weeks, I get a phone call stating that it is indeed BASAL CELL CANCER and she recommended a Mohs surgical removal that she would do!! In addition , my new Dermatologist request the Pathology Report from Dr. Dougherty office and what they sent over, was not a typical Pathology Report and lacked the normal information. Needless to say, I was very upset to think that this perhaps could have been all avoided over a year ago, if she would have simply removed the small bump on my nose! Of course, I wouldn't go back to her for a Mohs surgery, which she is not even listed as a Mohs surgeon on the Mohs College Surgeons site. I researched and found a Dermatologist that is board certified by the Mohs College of Surgeons.. Unfortunately, because of her incompetence to recognize the possibility of me having a repeat skin cancer near the previous cancer site , my surgical procedure was more extensive than it should have been if she would have simply taken the bump off a year ago as I feared for a possible malignancy. Now I had to have a patch of skin removed from my ear to cover the hole that was required to remove all traces of cancer. I am only one week post surgery and I have no idea what my final result will be. The surgery was more than I anticipated and I fear that I may need plastic surgery after I heal, which I am told will take several more weeks. This probably could have all been avoided if she simply listened to my concern and my previous history. Needless to say, I would never use her again or recommend her to anyone.

I saw Kaitlin Williams and Tracy to get my moles looked at. They were so sweet and made me feel comfortable during my biopsy.
