Over all felt dismissed, like I was annoying the practitioners with questions and overall had side effects from the herbs and never had my call back from supervisor. I could tell it was indeed all about the money. Very saddened. They instead emailed me, and scheduled me an in person appointment without my approval of the date and time. I felt at that point it wasn’t worth it coming in, after never getting a phone call back from the supervisor. No refunds for the herbs I purchased either, and the delay of shipment was outrageous, I had to personally come in. Overall team work wasn’t there.
I’ve been coming here for a few months and I absolutely love it! So healing for the mind, body, and spirit. The environment is great and the practitioners are kind and caring (shout out to Tom!). It made a HUGE difference with my chronic foot/ankle pain even after the first treatment. Totally worth it, changed my life!
I started my masters at another acupuncture school in California before switching to the Academy for Five Element acupuncture, and I am so incredibly glad that I did. The unique structure of the program has allowed me to continue to work and live near my family for the first two years. The tuition is one of the most affordable in the country (nearly half of what schools here in NYC cost!). The teachers are incredibly devoted, approachable, and humble. The buildings have more natural light than all of the other schools I've visited combined - especially the gorgeous brand-new Student Clinic. Finally, the school's approach to Chinese medicine encourages students to engage their future vocation from multiple perspectives: the spiritual, the interpersonal, the biological, the entrepreneurial, etc, etc. Acupuncture programs are not for the feint of heart: you will be expected to work hard here and mostly on your own schedule. This program is good for self-starters and people who learn better at their own pace.
this program has been so impactful, it's hard to put into words.. it hasn't always been pretty or easy. it's been incredibly challenging and frustrating at times. BUT i have developed a deeper, more expansive understanding of myself and the world around me -- a real gift. there's something truly special about this school, the teachers and staff, and the curriculum. i originally pursued this program due to the "intensive" structure of the first 2 years, which allowed me to continue working and living at home. intensive is a perfect word for it. it requires self-discipline, self-motivation, and a lot of self-care. if you're ready and willing to grow, this experience can be quite transformative. now that my clinical internship is nearing its close, i feel proud of the professionalism i've been able to develop here. the program prepares you to not only treat patients within the 5 Element / Chinese medical system but to also understand their allopathic medical diagnoses and medications. we've had practice management classes with great insights on how to start and run an acupuncture business. working with patients through the different levels of clinic has provided much opportunity to learn, receive feedback, and further hone our technical & interpersonal skills. overall, i've found the program to be comprehensive in its preparation of students for the lifelong journey of being an acupuncturist and herbalist. ever-thankful that my path led me here !
I just wasted an entire afternoon to show up to my appointment - which was never inputted into their system. My payment was processed on my credit card properly, yet my appointment was not inputted into the scheduling system. WARNING: The front desk woman said, "yeah, this isn’t the first time it’s happened". I live 20+ minutes away, and arranged childcare to accommodate this appointment. Get a better booking system in place.
I love the acupuncture clinic. I've started back with them after a break. It's a student clinic so appointments take a bit longer but we'll worth the price. We're working on building up my constitution before I go back to chemo. Then we'll work to keep me going during my treatments.
I applied to the school and they gave great information. I sent in my seat deposit and they said it was refundable. Well I let them know 2 months ago I was not attending and I have not received my refund. I have contacted then 3 times for it and I'm still waiting. Be wary!
