Course Coffee Getting to Course Coffee can be a little challenging. Second street, where they are located, is under construction south of them. The area they are in is north of the main historic area people think of as Historic St Charles. If you’re not from the area, you’re going to have to go there purposely. From all appearances, the historic building was once a duplex, which has been opened up and includes two nice size rooms in the front of the building with seating and a large service area in the back. There is historic charm inside and outside this coffee shop which is appealing (see the pictures). The day we visited it was cold and snow was still on the ground but as you will see there is outdoor seating in the front of the building. With Katy Trail near by bicyclist will be happy to know they have bike parking available. The vibe is homey, casual, and low key. The decor is hodgepodge - it mostly look like they shopped thrift shops and estate sales for the majority of the tables, seating, and decor. As an interior designer, I would like to see more consistency. Picking a style and seeking out pieces that all fit well together will give this and any business establishment an identity. My wife and I made a special trip to Course on a recent Sunday afternoon. There we’re only handful of people in the shop during our visit. The staff was nice and we had the opportunity to speak to the friendly barista. She told us unlike other coffee shops that that Course makes all of their own syrups/flavorings and that they will customize your beverage with more or less of any of the syrups that they offer. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you, it was not posted, nor does their website say, what milks they offer or if they can accommodate people with allergies. I sent them two emails but never received a reply to these questions. It is also important to note that they do not have a phone in the shop and apparently don’t pick up the number connected to the business during normal business hours - which is unfortunate. For your reference the pictures that accompany this review include their menu. My wife had the London Fog Latte and a Vanilla Brown Sugar Latte. Both were very good and served in large ceramic cups and beautifully presented. Comparatively, the cost of our beverages was less than many of the coffee shops we had visited and I have reviewed. It’s very easy to get to their website from their Google maps page. I suggest that you take a look for additional information. Would we go back? Yes, if we are in the general vicinity we would definitely return to Course. If you happen to be in this part of Saint Charles we would suggest you give them a try.
Course Coffee is undoubtedly one of my favorite spots in St Charles. Their specialty roasted coffees are next level. They offer everything from lattes to pour overs, and super yummy seasonal drinks. The environment is so cozy, and perfect for catching up with a friend, working remotely, or enjoying a good book. Their baristas are so knowledgeable about their coffees and happy to answer any questions about the menu and even make suggestions for what you might like to try! Cannot recommend enough 10/10
These folks love & "know" coffee and they want to share it with you! I LOVE the espresso spritzers … Amazing selection of house roasted coffees served up with the friendliest vibe imaginable. If you’ve wanted to learn more about coffees without judgement , thus is the place to expand your palate. A great place to meet up with friends or sip quietly and work on you laptop . Their cold brew to-go kicks off our Foodie Tours and guests fall in love immediately!!
The best coffee I have ever had! So far I have only had a latte and cappuccino, but I will be trying the americano soon. They have an interesting and creative flavor assortment, and while it sounds crazy the rosemary latte is fantastic! *Edit* I dont go out for coffee often, so it took a number of months to get back. I have now tried 2 different espresso roasts and they are both fantastic. The staff is very knowledgeable and knows how to describe what they have. I also got a pour-over and an Americano both of which are divine! Personally I am a bigger fan of cappuccino, but I generally judge a place on their americano because you can't hide bad espresso in an americano. Course has nothing to hide, 10/10. I also purchased their beans for my home espresso machine and will update after I try them.
Came in off the Katy Trail wanting a pastry and some coffee. Ended up getting a pecan pastry and a Burundi honey processed coffee. Both were delicious! One thing that was a bit annoying is that they don't have prices listed for everything. Mine ended up being about $12 total. They have coffee flights available as well which is what I'll probably get next time, although I have no idea how much they cost.
From out of town and it’s a bit of a drive from O’Fallon for pre-work coffee but worth it. Coffee is fantastic and the aesthetic is 🤌🏽 My only suggestion is to partner with local dairies to provide fresh locally made yogurt(s) and breakfast tacos 🌮 Not sure why but that’s a favorite combination and we don’t see it too often.
Located in the understated but very nice and interesting Frenchtown neighborhood. Rich and flavorful gourmet coffee. Lots of varieties and combinations. Create your own. A very relaxed atmosphere. Super friendly service. Nice outdoor patio in back and a few tables in front as well. Will be back.
