Dr. Cullen is quite impressive, checking every box for the perfect patient positive experience (and I’ve treated patients the last 35 yrs)! His demeanor is pleasant, tranquil and happy. He listens intently moving through consultation. It is immediately obvious that he cares about his patients’ concerns and needs, and very clear that this surgeon has impeccable knowledge and skill! Questions/input about procedure?….I interjected several so I wouldn’t forget when the moment passed…he patiently flowed with me, ready with answers, and had no trouble picking right back up where he had left off….informative and thorough!! I couldn’t be more thankful that my coworker recommended Dr. Cullen to me!!
Love Dr. Cullen! He did a great a great job. I felt informed and cared for. He really took his time answering all questions, and going over the procedures from start to finish. Would most definitely recommend!
I am satisfied and with the results of my surgery performed by Dr. Cullen. His exceptional bedside manners and attentiveness truly is amazing. I have high expectations, and this outcome certainly met them! Many thanks to Dr. Cullen and the entire staff.
Dr. Cullen is the absolute best! I had a septoplasty and rhinoplasty done by him last December and I absolutely love how my nose both looks and functions now! Not only can I breathe but he made it look totally perfect yet natural! He is the nicest man and is always willing to take extra time explaining different options and answering questions. I recommend him to everyone. 🙂 Thank you Dr. Cullen!
Grand Rapids is lucky to have Dr. Cullen! He and his staff are always friendly and welcoming. Dr. Cullen makes sure you are at ease before any procedure and takes the time to clearly explain what to expect both before and afterwards. I would not go anywhere else or trust anyone else with my cosmetic procedures other than Dr. Cullen and the entire Elite team.
I apologize for the length of this review, but I'd like to be clear and thorough in my explanation for my rating. I chose Dr. Cullen for my rhinoplasty because he was the lowest price, very nice, and was assured repeatedly by him and his staff that he performed rhinoplasty all the time. I understood then and now there is always a risk of dissatisfaction - it is a complicated surgery and one signs an extensive waiver for this reason - but he had a very low revision rate. I was initially told my rhinoplasty would be very easy, I was an ideal candidate with thin skin, and Dr. Cullen and his team were kind during my day of surgery. About three days post-op my internal splint started to fall out on my right side, pressing on my scar and my columella. It was excruciating. By far the worst pain throughout the entire process. I called the emergency line and spoke to Dr. Cullen, explaining what was happening, how it felt and looked. Frankly, he minimized the situation and said it would be fine, as I was getting the splints removed two days later at my post-op appointment anyway. I trusted him and made it through the next days, barely able to sleep from the constant pain and pressure on my nose. Immediately after splint removal it was clear my columella had been deformed. He said it was just my scar and it would reduce over time. I also had a large bump on my nasal bone (the opposite side from the bump in my "before" nose) and he said that will maybe reduce over the next two years, or maybe it won't. In the following months/years I underwent repeated steroid injections and laser treatments on my columella, and underwent an extremely painful scar revision procedure. Nothing made a difference. For nearly three years now I have had a "bulge" around my scar on the columella. My nasal bone bump aches and is pressing on my skin so much that my skin is thinning around the bone and discoloring. Furthermore, my post-op nose had a noticeable dent on the right side and a small lump forming on the left side of my tip (kind of looks like a colorless mole). Dr. Cullen said this was because I had a difficult nose and thin skin would show every "imperfection" - exactly the opposite of what I was initially told. I was advised to put filler in my nose but was very apprehensive. This helped the dent but ultimately did not conceal the lump in my tip, but rather emphasized the still-asymmetrical appearance of my tip - the left side protrudes quite noticeably compared to the right. The lump is still completely visible. All this is made even more uncomfortable by the fact that if I wipe my nose, the columella cartilage will "knock" to the side and I have to manually adjust it back into place. Yes, it’s very weird. I contacted Dr. Cullen's office to debrief on my care overall - I don't want any one else to have a similar experience and there may be something to learn in all this. His office manager was apologetic and said they would meet to discuss options moving forward. I received an email response stating nothing aside from the offer of a free hydrafacial. I declined, stated I would not be returning to their office, and that it felt dismissive and placative, just as I have felt the last three years. It wasn’t until I spoke with other surgeons (for revision consultations) that I felt validation and explanation for the cause of my "imperfections." Truthfully, with this review I just hope to encourage more accountability with Dr. Cullen. We entrust you with our appearance yes, but also our self-worth, confidence and mental well-being.
I hate seeing doctors for anything. This was the exception. From walking in the door it was a precision process. Doctors assistant did her thing, was swift, no nonsense, but politely answered my questions. Doctor comes in, and this man is the model of professional conduct. I could tell I was dealing with a confident expert. Full visit, including scheduled appointment for surgery took less than 10 minutes. This was not being shorted, it was all it took for us to conduct business. That’s was it was, it felt like a smooth business transaction, instead of a sloppy, three needless appointments to achieve the same thing, as I have come to expect from medical visits. Very impressed.
