I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding my recent appointment experience. On Monday, August 18, 2025, I came to the clinic for my scheduled dental cleaning appointment. However, upon arrival, I was informed by the receptionist that my appointment had already been canceled and given to someone else. The reason given was that my insurance would not cover the visit, and I was told that I had been called and even left a voicemail on Friday, August 16, 2025, asking me to reschedule. The voicemail played muffled sounds that was impossible to understand. I would like to point out that I never confirmed any cancellation or rescheduling. I had every intention of keeping my appointment, and I believe it was unfair and unprofessional to give away my appointment slot without my confirmation. Furthermore, I routinely schedule my cleanings every three months. Even if my insurance does not cover the service, I am always prepared to pay out of pocket. This situation caused me significant inconvenience and disappointment, as I value my dental care and had arranged my time specifically for this appointment. I kindly ask that you review this matter and ensure that such an incident does not happen again. Patients should not lose their appointments without their explicit confirmation. TLDR - This place used to be great. Now it sucks. Don't go here. I put off leaving for far to long. Today - (1/17/2025) , After Going to this Dentist for 5+ years, I am no longer happy with their services and will not be back for the reasons listed below. 1. the receptionists are terrible to get ahold of. multiple calls, longs hold times, sometimes getting hung up on while on hold - Looks like this is a common problem if you search their through other reviews - it's all true. 2. Wait time for a regular check up was a little more than a month. (seems like a long time to wait to me) 3. After waiting more than a month and getting multiple automated check-ins/reminders that my appointment was today I confirmed through the automated system, got off work, drove 35 minutes to the office JUST to be told that there are no hygienists working on Friday and my appointment will have to be rescheduled. I received no calls from an actual receptionist telling me that this was the case for the ENTIRE month wait for the appointment! Only automated messages CONFIRMING my appointment time! Unacceptable. After reading other google reviews on this place - things like this seem to be a regular occurrence. I could not bear to take my frustrations out on the girl behind the counter who said she was "new". Instead - I will do what I can to share my experience and warn others to STAY AWAY FROM THIS DENTIST OFFICE!

I have had nothing but great experiences here and that's saying something. I used to have the worst anxiety and dental work phobia. I would have to be sedated or put to sleep to have anything done at other places. Here I feel completely at ease and I can do it awake!! That's major for me. He does a great job numbing. I can pop in a ear bud and I'm good. He is booked out a little bit but I highly recommend. Worth the wait in my opinion.

I've been going here for the last two years. They have helped me so much! My teeth were so damaged from lack of care, pregnancies and past drug use. They gave me my smile back! I'm no longer afraid to smile or show my teeth! Beautiful job!!! They've worked with me and my insurance getting everything covered! It's been a huge blessing and I can't thank the doctor and staff enough!!! I cried when they fixed my front teeth which were some of the worst. It's been a journey but they've been amazing! Thank you Dr. John and your staff!!!

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor’s office! They don’t even deserve this one-star-rating! To be able to reach the receptionist, you need to spam their number as they don’t have a queue system set up nor do they call you back after you leave a message. After 20-30 unanswered calls, when the receptionist does finally pick up, she says that she can’t hear you but somehow manages to hear you ask, "Can you hear me now?" And is able to respond saying "No, I still can’t hear you." I have no idea who she thinks she’s fooling. Also, appointments are scheduled at least 2-3 months out. So you better be praying to be pain-free. My grandma was told she needs a root canal done, but the soonest they could get her in is two and a half months away. Hope your tooth gets better Grandma! Overall, I highly discourage anyone from attending this doctor’s office. Buchanan Dentistry, you just lost five patients and will probably continue to lose a lot more if you don’t get a friendly receptionist and don’t figure out a way to manage all your appointments especially the urgent ones. Hope this saves you from all the trouble our family had to go through, and hope you find a better doctor’s office to go to!

Rude receptionist. Had a filling done and have had excruciating pain since. Called a total of NINE times (3 times each day on Fri, Mon and Tues) and NEVER got a call back. Showed up and was told I could be seen and the receptionist tried to say I only called once. I can clearly see on my phone I've called 9 times. Then after 45 minutes of waiting told to come back in 3 hours. I only live 45 minutes away, no inconvenience at all. I think maybe they need to get better Receptionists!

The worst dentist I’ve ever been to. Went for a cleaning and got a bill for 386$. They also didn’t even really tell me what I needed done on my teeth. Once I was finally able to get ahold of someone at their office (they NEVER answer their phone and don’t usually return messages) they said that they "never heard back from my insurance." Had to call insurance and get them to request the claims for them to ever get sent. After they finally sent my claim to insurance they are still sending me the bill for 386$ that they should know is wrong since they’ve sent my claim. My girlfriend also goes to this dentist and had a filling fall out the same day she got it and had a root canal that was swelling and caused an abscess AFTER she had the root canal. Just find a better dentist and don’t waste a year of your dental benefits on this place. Can also never get in sooner than about a month or two so hope you aren’t in agonizing pain or anything.
