Palmira Barbecue

We drove from Charlotte, NC just to visit Palmira Barbecue that we saw on Instagram. This was the best experience ever! When we arrived the line was out the door but it didn’t matter people waited with JOY and the staff has a flawless system that moved the line quickly. Now let’s talk about the food 🙌🏽 Excellent we had a spread and it was all good especially those Puerto Rican rice and peas and that bread pudding that had us craving for more the next day!!

Never in my life had I EVER had beef cheeks!!! But man was they delicious!!!! Like brisket and roast had a baby! Mouth watering goodness!!!!!! The sausage was good too. 😊 Update!!!!!! We came back twice more during our visit and brought friends along the last day we were here. This place is now their favorite place to eat bbq as well!!!! They were as blown away as we were!

Palmira BBQ is a true hidden gem in Charleston. If you’ve never had beef cheek before, you need to try it here. This place has become one of our absolute favorites—every time my boyfriend flies into town, we drive straight from the airport to Palmira. The barbacoa is incredible, and the whole hog and barbacoa tostadas are 🤌🏻 perfection. Their collard greens are hands-down the best around—especially if you like them vinegary. I always order the large because they’re even better later on. The mac and cheese is creamy, the pinto beans are full of flavor, and the mustard slaw is crisp and pairs perfectly with the pulled hog. Out of all the BBQ spots I’ve tried in Charleston—and I’ve been to most—Palmira is easily in my top two. Just make sure you get there early… they do sell out!

Definitely recommend the smoked cheeks. The other meats were good, too. Collard greens have a nice sweet zing. And the Puerto Rican beans have a good seasoning. Only bottled drinks or sweet/unsweetened tea. Daily specials and lunch is the time to avoid the crowd.

Hands down best barbecue I have had in my life. I’ve never tried beef cheeks before and it was so tender and flavorful. I was genuinely shocked at how amazing everything was. The main favorites from this order was the beef rib and beef cheeks. The hash and rice was really good, very different and I didn’t expect the sweet flavoring but was surprisingly my favorite side. The Mac n cheese was also one of the best I’ve had.

We waited over an hour to get in at Palmira’s BBQ in Charleston. The lines were long, but the food itself was good. This style of barbecue is fattier but very flavorful. Service was good, staff was kind, and everyone was friendly—even while waiting in line. The beef cheeks were the standout dish, absolutely fantastic. Absolutely amazing BBQ! My fiancé and I shared a tray. It is pricey but worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! We tried the Beef cheek, brisket, Sausage, Mac and cheese and collard greens. Everything was PERFECT! The staff was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10!!
