The food was fresh and very well prepared. The service was also excellent. I enjoyed everything about my visit.
Atmosphere isn’t posh but the food is good. They also gracefully accommodated an eighteen month old who consumes rice like it’s candy. He left a mess and we left a big tip!
Food is amazing! the kids love sushi, and you can draw on the paper table cloths.
Good sushi for MT. About the same quality as conveyor belt sushi in Seattle area but much pricier. (I miss good sushi, and this is the best we have found locally so far.) I have not tried their other food. Staff was rude one day, then just cold another, then nice a third, so that is a bit of a random factor... good luck. And for the person that said not to eat the spicy salmon roll on dollar night... the regular quality of this sushi is dollar night sushi at a reasonable restaurant... I don't think I would trust dollar night sushi at any sushi restaurant I have been to in MT.
I'm very pleased with the quality of sushi at Nara. Being so far from the ocean, I don't think it can get much better! I prefer to go on $1 days (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) when I can get my favorite, the rock and roll, for $3.50, but even on a normal day I can get 2 rolls or a lunch special for under $15. I've heard good things about the Korean BBQ, but have never been able to talk to wife into going on a BBQ night! In comparison to Sushi Hana, I'd say the sushi is very comparable. I think Hana is a little classier and the service is a little better, but it's also a little more expensive. So, normally, I choose Nara for my sushi in Missoula.
The wait staff are some of my most favorite people in Missoula. The sushi chef takes very good care of their customers and always remembers me when I walk in the door with my brood of kids. They're super accommodating and their fish is pretty darn good for Montana hurt. This is coming from a girl from San Diego who gets fairly fresh fish.
Very bland food, but then it's hard to find good sushi in Montana. Sushi rice is regular white rice (maybe poorly seasoned?). The sushi was very loosely rolled. Both times I've been, I was served luke warm miso soup with cold tofu... really weird that they serve it like that. (the waiter last week said that's "how we do it"...) understaffed; very unfriendly waiter- another lady helped us out later, much nicer. Still, I would never recommend it. Oh well, back to the great sushi hunt.
