Harbinger

What an amazing experience! A beautiful restaurant on Ingersoll in Des Moines. We went for the Valentine weekend experience and it was fabulous. A six course meal plus dessert. 5 star service by our waitress Melina. The food was all 5 star plus! They actually had a vegetarian and a vegan "no problem" menu which is almost unheard of. A true gem. Highly recommend!!!

Fantastic and memorable! We enjoyed every exquisite morsel. The experience was akin to eating at an art museum. The service was professional, kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. We found the menu to have plentiful vegetarian options—which is often scarce in the Midwest. I think we ordered all of them! My husband and I were celebrating his retirement after 33+ years of service in the Army National Guard. It was a big day for us, the Harbinger team made it incredibly special, warm, and memorable. Thank you so much!

Incredible food, marvelous service. Each bite of food felt like a separate experience, and I savored all of it. They were also more than accommodating of my dietary preferences and were very thoughtful. We went for happy hour, and the $8 dishes were honestly my favorites of the entire menu (the bao buns and shokupan). The chef’s tasting was decadent. 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic dining experience. These guys and gals obviously love what they do. Chefs tastings were phenomenal, atmosphere and service were on point. Wine tasting was weak, but a great starter cocktail and everything else was perfect! Can’t wait to go back!

We made a reservation for dinner while passing through Des Moines on a road trip. We were promptly greeted and seated at our table. My wife was given a menu with vegetarian options highlighted, a nice touch! Jannea provided superb service and explanation of the menu. We each ordered cocktails off the menu which were excellent! I had the tasting menu, see photo of courses, which was an experience I will never forget. Beautifully plated, well timed and delicious! The Vietnamese Tiramisu left me speechless! We made a point to go back to Harbinger during on the return of our road trip and took advantage of their happy hour menu. We were promptly seated during this visit as well. Kudos to the Chefs, Bartender, and Service Staff, especially Jannea for giving us a night to remember!

Harbinger was an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. I never felt silly for asking any questions. The food was fantastic. We got the chef's tasting with wine pairing and it was absolutely worth the price. Reservations recommended, and expect to spend time here enjoying your party's company.

The food here is sourced locally, and akways fresh. Unique and brilliant in their culinary offerings. A local favorite spot. These guys know what theyre doing, and you will be so well taken care of.
