Customer Reviews
R101 Ramen has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 based on over 800 reviews on Google
My ramen was fantastic and so was the ikigai karaage! Their broth is really flavorful and rich. Portion sizes feel slightly larger than other ramen places.
Here’s my first and last experience at this place. I walked in with my 9 year old son and asked for a menu. Called my wife to discuss what we would eat while looking at the menu. While I was on the phone a guy comes up to me and asked me if I was going to order. I had to say "excuse me I’m on the phone" and I could hear the guy by the cook (which I can only assume was a manager of some type) asking if I was going to order or not. Hearing him say that as I turned around walked up look at him and of course I responded; "yes, I wasn’t sure what’s the rush was for". My phone call was 4 mins to be exact. They brought my order out quick but when I got home well… you can look at the photo yourself. I might have just ordered a Maruchan cup of noodle compared to the bowls they served being there. I called to asked about that and it’s funny how I didn’t have to explain much for him to have an excuse ready that they give 12oz of broth the size of a soda can. Not to mention right after he said you can come see for yourself, is when he hung up on me. I called back hoping to get the guy again but now the register girl answers. Had to remind her that it was a pretty terrible experience being there the first time and I was going to leave this review for it. That’s near $20 for ramen for you here I don’t know you tell me if this is right!? Parking is terrible by the way so good luck!!
Went here with my friends while we were spending the day in Glendale, and found this place on maps while we were looking on Maps. To be completely honest, I had very low expectations for this place, but the food completely blew the expectations. This place has some of the best Tonkotsu Ramen I've ever tasted! The broth had a nice warm and creamy texture to it. They also have different selections of meat to add to your ramen (along with a no-meat option). The food definitely hit the spot since it was a cold outside with on-and-off rain when we visited. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my bowl since I forgot to take one. For pricing, it was definitely worth their menu price as the food was very high quality. Tax wasn't an issue, but the Service Charge was 18% which was a little ridiculous but understandable considering the outstanding service. You can see our order in the image with our receipt below. After adding taxes and the service charge, it'll probably be around $20 - 30 per person. The atmosphere of this restaurant was also very nice. The layout felt very crammed since it was a small dining area, but they somehow made it work. Me and my friends were in a group of 8 people, and were sat on the chairs hugging the window. The decorations and lighting of the dining area felt cozy and welcoming. Some final thoughts, this restaurant was definitely a highlight of our day, and me and my friends will definitely be visiting again sometime!
I ordered this off of Grubhub and was genuinely shocked because the ramen was that good. Broth was super flavorful! Chashu wondefully soft! You usually expect a mediocre level of quality when your food arrives 20 minutes after it's made and in a plastic container, but it was genuinely so delicious I'll have to go to this place in person and bring friends!
I'm really happy to say that the service and speed of this restaurant improved so much from previous visits. I was craving ramen, I knew this place had delicious food, so I thought I would give it a go expecting an only ok service. First things first, the parking in this area is terrible. Their lot is small and the streets are usually difficult because you're in a commercial/residential area. By the time this place opens, street sweeping times should be done, but a lot of dumpsters are still in the way, so good luck on that part, but it is what it is in the area. I was surprised it was as empty as it was when I got there at 12:30 on a Tuesday because this place is usually packed! The only thing I would say be careful for is if you get hot easily, don't sit next to the glass divider because they boil the ramen right behind it and if it's a hot day, that corner can be really uncomfortable. Also, the tables are shared, so there's a chance that you're going to sit next to a stranger if it's busy. If you're an introvert, to-go is a great option because they pack their food in a way that your ramen won't get soggy in broth and sides are individually boxed. They gave me a bowl of tsukemono (I believe it's house made pickled cabbage, but I didn't confirm). It's sour, bitter, crunchy...it's hard to describe, but give it a taste. I personally love it, my friend, not at all. I ordered the gyoza (which is always cooked to perfection) and has the best dipping sauce! The spam musubi, which is spam musubi. They don't go crazy on sauce or anything fancy which I love; keep it classic. I also ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and I always get the spicy on the side because it really builds up the more you eat. (It's just a way for me to control the flavor and build up of spiciness). In the tonkatsu ramen, they give a generous amount of pork and toppings. They have a lot of additional toppings you can add. On your table, you'll also find a tray that has other ingredients for toppings such as chili, oil, sesame seeds, soy sauce and what I think is white pepper (unsure). Service was really quick and they had great customer service. If you're going to take food to go, make sure you're really specific on how many boxes you want.
Craving for a good bowel of ramen! Warm, mild spicy and bites of juicy pork belly slices, dry seaweed, red ginger, fresh green onions. I finished the entire bowl from long noddles to savory broth. R101 staff was so generous and their recommendations were top notch, got me a Mango Creamy Soda n tried out their Spam Misubi. Plus I saved room for dessert with their Thai Tea flavored mochi ice cream, chilled, thick, n not overly too sweet.
One of my favorite ramen places. Great food and service. Price and quality are right balanced. Stuff is always friendly. If you love ramen, this a place for must try.
